L’exposition La mémoire des ruines, présente le travail du photographe genevois Aurélien Bergot. Ces œuvres, réalisées par l’artiste à Malte, racontent l’histoire de notre civilisation en n’en montrant que ses traces. Ce concentré d’histoire occidentale devient pour l’artiste un prétexte esthétique; l’appareil photographique se transforme alors en un outil archéologique pour mettre à jour les évidences du passé et les confronter à notre contemporanéité.

 

The exhibition La mémoire des ruines presents the work of Geneva photographer Aurélien Bergot. The works, taken by the artist in Malta, explore – by only showing the traces – the history of our civilisation. This concentration of Western history becomes for the artist an aesthetic pretext; the camera lens being used as a archaeological tool to show the evidence of the past and its confrontion with our contemporaneity.
